What's the best way to build an effective affiliate site? Some affiliates like the feeling of having a store site, so they place product links on their site to create pages of great looking items their customers can buy. Other affiliates prefer paid search engine marketing and they spend their time and effort finding and bidding on keyword terms that don't conflict with our trade name and reserved keyword terms. Still other affiliates like to have banner ads and coupons on their sites. These affiliates focus on the discount shopper and have our discount and coupon links on their site.

Content Sites : Building an effective affiliate site takes time, trial and error, and persistence. Building a group of buying customers takes great patience and testing as you strive to find the products that fit the tastes of your market. Give yourself at least a year to build enough page rank to get notice. Once you hit that mark, organic rankings will follow. In your page content, use keywords that fit the products you sell.

Consider these things as you build page rank:

Content: should fit your customer base's interests and be unique to your site.
Inbound Links: Get yourself linked - with lots of incoming visitors from other sites. Avoid link farms and automated exchanges.
Merchandising: Keep your pages neat and uncluttered looking. Focus products to one category per page to keep a well organized appearance and to make each page noticeable by search engines.
Network Affect : It's all about networking! You're part of a network of like minded people who want the products you've selected. Now you just have to find the key to that network - where do they hang out on the internet? What other things do they like? Get them talking about your site. Have them make comments or post blogs on the site. Whatever it takes to keep and hold them there and to get others coming to the site, too! Creating a network of users happens in myriad ways and the ideas are endless. Just find a niche you're comfortable in and then keep adding more content to your site day by day.
